If Dial-Up Networking is not already installed 
If the Dial-Up Networking folder is not visible in the My Computer folder, you will need to install it from your original disks. 
Double-click the Control Panel icon. 
Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. 
Click the Windows Setup tab. 
Select Communications and click the Details button. 


Check the box next to Dial-Up Networking. 


Click OK to finish selection and go back to the Windows Setup tab. 
Click OK. 
Insert your Windows CD if necessary, and reboot. 
If Dial-Up Networking is installed 
Double-click the My Computer icon. 
Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon. If this is the first time you've done this, you might see a welcome screen. Click Next or double-click the Make New Connection icon. 
In the box labelled "Type a name for the computer you are dialing", type Internet Access. 
Your modem should already be installed and should appear under Select a Modem. Refer to your modem's manual should it need setup/configuration. 
Click OK. 
Click Next. 
In the Telephone number boxes, enter the Internet Access dialup number, including the area code. This number can be found on the Dialup Settings page. Leave the area code field blank and type the ten-digit phone number. If you have call waiting and would like to disable it, type *70, in front of the number. Do not check 'use country code or area code in dialing properties'. 
Click Next. 
Click Finish. 
Configure your new connection 
Right-click on your Internet Access icon, and choose Properties from the menu. 
Click the Server Types button or tab. Make sure the box labelled Type of Dial-Up Server: says PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet. 
In the Advanced Options section, select Enable software compression. Uncheck any of the others that might be checked in this section. 
In the Allowed network protocols: section, select TCP/IP and uncheck all the others. 
Click the TCP/IP Settings button. 
On the top, select Server assigned IP address. 
Below that, select Specify name server addresses. 
Enter the following for Primary and Secondary DNS: 
216.19.223.25
216.19.223.26
Leave Primary and Secondary WINS as 0.0.0.0. 
Check Use IP header compression. 
Check Use default gateway on remote network. 
Click OK, and if necessary, click OK again to return to the Dial-Up Networking window. 
Create a shortcut to the connection on your desktop 
Right-click on your Internet Access icon, and choose Create Shortcut. 
A warning message will pop up asking if you would like the shortcut to be made on the desktop. Click Yes. 
A new icon will appear on your desktop called Shortcut to Internet Access. You can use this to connect. 
Check the Network Control Panel 
Double-click the My Computer icon. 
Double-click the Control Panel icon. 
Double-click the Network icon. 
Make sure the following components are listed under "The following network components are installed: 
Client for Microsoft Networks
Dial-Up Adapter
TCP/IP
If any of these are missing, click the Add button, then follow the steps to add them. Don't worry if there are more components listed than just the ones above. 
Highlight TCP/IP, then click Properties. 
Click the DNS Configuration tab. 
Click Disable DNS. 
Click the WINS Configuration tab. 
Click Disable WINS Resolution. 
Click OK. 
Click OK. 
Reboot.
