Actiontec GT701 Setup Guide PPP w/ Dynamic IP Address
Connect your Actiontec modem to your PC following the instructions included with your DSL package. Keep in mind that Actiontec recommends that you use the ethernet connection instead of the USB connection if at all possible
Once you have connected your computer to the Actiontec, open your web browser and type 192.168.0.1 into the address bar at the top of the screen. This sho uld bring up the configuration screen for the Actiontec Modem.
On the Actiontec screen, select the Setup/Configuration option and select the Non-Windows setup. Input the following information:
ISP Protocol - PPPoA
Username and Password - Enter the Username and Password that you set up with Getnet whent activating your account. Make sure both the username and passwor d are all lowercase.
Select "Save and Restart" and your modem will reboot
On the front of the Modem, there are several indicator lights - look at the "DSL" and "Internet" lights. The DSL Light should go solid and green followed by the internet light. The DSL Light indicates that your modem has trained on the DSL line, and the Internet light indicates that the modem has successfully connected to Getnet. If both of these lights become solid and green you should be able to connect to the internet - If the DSL Light does not go solid green, that indicates that your DSL line is not yet ready for use - Call Qwest if you believe that there is an issue with your line at 1-800-247-7285. If your DSL light goes solid green, but the internet light does not, that means that your modem is unable to connect to Getnet, at this point you should verify that the u sername and password that you entered are correct, and contact Getnet if you are still unable to connect.
NOTE: If you are setting up a used modem, or you are re-entering the settings in your router, we recommend that you reset the modem prior to following these steps - this can be accomplished by holding down the "reset" button found on the back of the modem for 10 seconds. Doing this will reset the modem to its factory default settings.
