This document is not intended to be a tutorial on how to use HTML. There are many documents on the World Wide Web that cover HTML. If your looking for a good tutorial on how to write HTML, you may try Web Monkey. There are many other sources of HTML information. Internet a search engines are other good sources of HTML information. Web page editors are also very popular. The HTML source for any Web page you see can be viewed. This is done with the 'view' option, then select 'document source' inside of Netscape, or 'view' and then 'source' in Internet Explorer.

This document will assist you in uploading your web page and configuring it to be accessable from the outside world. In order to do this, you are going to need to have access to an FTP utility; we recommend WS_FTP, since that is the utility tha tthis document will reference to.

• Highlight the Profile Name box, and input " GetNet".
  • Input "pagan.getnet.net" (without the quotation marks, of course) for the Host Name.

     

  • Host Type is set to Automatic

  • Input your login ID (without the .ppp or other extensions!!) in the User ID box.

  • Make sure you leave the password slot BLANK.
• Then click on the "OK" button.
  • A password box will pop up, enter your "Password", and click OK.

     

  • Then click on the MkDir button in the "Remote System" area of the WS_FTP windows.

     

  • Enter the directory name of "public_html" in the Enter new remote directory name: box.

     

  • The new "public_html" directory should appear in the Remote System window.

• Double click on the directory to change to it.
  • In the Local System box, load the directory that contains your HTML and Graphics files by using the ChgDir button, and typing in the directory name.

  • Highlight the HTML and graphics files that you wish to upload, and click the right arrow.

  • This will insert them into the "public_html" directory.

  • If the name of your HTML file is not "index.html", change it so that it is.

  • To do this, highlight it and click on the rename button and change it to "index.html".

You now have an active web page on the Getnet Server!
