Welcome!

I'm a technical writer and a Sun Certified Java Programmer (Sun Microsystems, SCJP). I use this website to present information to prospective clients and employers. Most of my information technology skills are self taught, but I learned my technical writing skills in New Mexico Tech's Technical Communication program (B.S., '94).

XML Database Publishing: Mr. XML Publisher

Mr. XML Publisher is a full-featured, web-based XML formatting application that uses XSL and pulls content from relational databses and/or native XML databases. You can use the Internet-based demo of Mr. XML Publisher for DocBook and read both the technical and business details → here.

In addition to making my résumé accessible, this website provides samples of my:

I recently learned to use Arbortext Editor, including the use of Arbortext Styler to create the necessary stylesheets (XSL-FO, XSL-HTML, and FOSI). One of my projects involves integrating an advanced version of DocBook XSL Configurator into Arbortext Editor as a JEE client application. So far, I've created a custom doctype for Arbortext Editor using the DocBook 4.4 DTD, and I've got DocBook XSL Configurator integrated into the same JVM and accessible off of the Arbortext Editor toolbar.

I have a great deal of knowledge and experience in a wide variety of information technology areas, with more depth in some areas than in others. For example, I don't consider myself a graphic artist or a web designer, but I can create websites and use Adobe Illustrator. In some information technology areas that are more technical, I have more depth. For example, I can assemble the hardware for Unix/Linux servers, install the OS, and configure the networking and server software. I can do that for Apache, Tomcat, PHP, DB2, Geronimo, etc., compiling from source code when necessary. I can write applications that run on those servers, and I can write documentation using virtually any modern document-production technique. You can read my philosophy of technical writing → here.

My current efforts mostly involve supporting and marketing Mr. XML Publisher, but I'm also preparing for additional Java certifications from Sun: Sun Certified Web Component Developer and Sun Certified Business Component Developer.
