Getnet, Santander’s global merchant payments platform, today announces the expansion of its payment business across Europe, enabling large eCommerce businesses to access its infrastructure across 31 countries in the European Economic Area under its own licence.
The expansion marks a new phase for Getnet in Europe, extending its successful presence in Latin America, Spain and Portugal to a broader global proposition focused on pan-European multinational merchants, Marketplaces and eCommerce businesses.
As European commerce becomes increasingly cross-border, businesses face the challenge of navigating multiple payment methods, regulations and technical integrations. Getnet's European platform brings these capabilities together through a single infrastructure called Getnet Single Entry Point (SEP). SEP allows merchants to connect to multiple markets through one integration while accessing leading local payment methods, including Bizum in Spain and MB WAY in Portugal, where Getnet operates as a direct member, enabling a stronger value proposition for merchants.
The model is already operating at scale in Latin America, where Getnet processes billions of transactions across Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia and Argentina. Its expansion into Europe brings the same multi-market approach to the region, combining a single integration with the local payment capabilities consumers expect in each market.
In addition to payment acceptance, Getnet will enable merchants, platforms and payment service providers to collect funds, reconcile balances, convert currencies and make payouts through the same infrastructure. The solution initially supports 20 currencies and payouts to 140 countries.
